We were hoping and waiting, it’s here! The new 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will indeed be available with the improved, up to date powertrain in Canada.

New battery for the 2021 Outlander PHEV

Already available elsewhere in the world, the new-generation battery will now be available in Canada in the 2021 Outlander PHEV. This new technology will allow a better all-electric range in addition to increasing the vehicle’s overall range.

New engine also!

At the same time, Mitsubishi will now offer a new gasoline-powered engine in the Outlander PHEV. this 2021 motor could be the same one offered elsewhere in the world, which is a 2.4l. 4 cylinder engine producing 135hp.

Increased electric autonomy

With this new battery potentially delivering up to 13,8 kWh, we can expect an all-electric autonomy of 50km.

This estimate is based on the current European version’s output. We will have to wait for its arrival in Quebec to get confirmation of these figures from Mitsubishi Canada.

Release date

Based on a press release from Mitsubishi dated July 2020, the new version of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV should arrive in dealerships during the first trimester of 2021.

At the time of redaction, no pricing information has been released by Mitsubishi Canada in regards to pricing of the 2021 Outlander PHEV in Quebec.

The price range will without a doubt be slightly higher than the outgoing 2020 version based on the amount of added content.

Government rebates offered for the Outlander PHEV

At the time of redaction, there are two government rebates offered in Quebec for the Outlander PHEV.

Provincial government rebate

With a value of up to $4,000.00 applicable to the purchase of an Outlander PHEV, This rebate is offered by the government of Quebec through the Roulez vert program.

Federal government incentive

Given upon a lease or purchase of a hybrid or electric vehicle via the Canadian government Zero emission program. It will give you the opportunity to get an additional $2,500.00 rebate.

Both rebates can be combined.

Still offered with the permanent S-AWC all wheel drive system

A huge selling point of the Outlander is its highly advanced permanent AWD system, even in all-electric mode!

Battery warranty

Mitsubishi Canada is an industry leader in original warranties on its vehicles. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV benefit from the same warranties as all other models offered by the manufacturer, which are as following:

Limited warranty of 10 years or 160 000 KM on the powertrain
Limited warranty of 10 years or 160 000 KM on the Lithium-Ion battery
Limited warranty of 5 years or 100 000 KM on new vehicles
Roadside assistance for 5 years, unlimited mileage
