The 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is already generating a lot of interest among buyers looking for a reliable hybrid SUV.
While Mitsubishi has yet to officially unveil specific details of this model for the Canadian market, trends in other markets, notably Japan and Europe, offer a glimpse of potential improvements to come.
In this article, we take a look at the new features that the 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV could benefit from, based on the limited information available to us.
For the European and Japanese markets, Mitsubishi has recently introduced significant updates to the Outlander PHEV.
Among the notable improvements expected in North America in 2026 – an increase in the total power of the hybrid system to almost 300 bhp. What’s more, a larger battery could be fitted (from 20 to 22.7 kilowatt-hours), increasing the all-electric range beyond the current 61 kilometres.
Aesthetic updates are also planned for this PHEV version, which can already be seen on the Outlander 2025 internal combustion model.
The exterior design could be refreshed with a slightly modified front grille and redesigned rear lights. Inside, as the Mitsubishi Outlander 2025 has been given a new dashboard, we can expect to see this new design on the 2026 version of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, which should make its cabin more user-friendly.
The manufacturer’s warranty on PHEV (plug-in hybrid) powertrains offers basic coverage of 5 years or 100,000 km as well as extended protection on the powertrain, including the combustion engine and associated components, of 10 years or 160,000 km.
Regarding the battery for the PHEV powertrain, this benefits from a guarantee of 8 years or 160,000 km.
Although these updates have been confirmed for Europe and Japan, their adoption on the Canadian market has yet to be confirmed.
