Mitsubishi has always been a pioneer among car manufacturers
In 1917, it launched the Model A which became the first ever Japanese production car. We also have to give credit to Mitsubishi for developing the PX33, the first AWD car sold in Japan in 1936.
Mitsubishi’s AWD technology, known as All-Wheel Control (AWC), allowed the brand to win a lot of demanding rally competitions such as the Dakar rally raid. It even holds the record of Dakar victories in the car category with a total of 12 first places. This is the proof of AWC’s superiority compared to the other AWD systems.
Mitsubishi’s purpose is also to develop more ecological cars
In 1999, the manufacturer indeed set a new distance record for an electrical vehicle by covering 2,000 km in 24 hours. This strong involvement towards electrical mobility took a very important step in 2009 with the launch of the Mitsubishi i-MiEv, the first mass-produced electric car in the world.
A highly charged future for Mitsubishi
Mitsubishi isn’t about to stop being a pioneer in electrified mobility. It is quite the opposite : its range will very soon welcome the Outlander PHEV, a plug-in hybrid version of the renowned SUV which will stay true to the Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC). Boasting a pure electric range of 54 km, this eco-friendly model will be nearly as much affordable as its petrol-powered counterpart. This philosophy allowed the Outlander PHEV to become the best-selling electrified vehicle in the United Kingdom in 2016, in front of the Nissan Leaf.
The long-term future of Mitsubishi’s PHEV technology is previewed by the GT-PHEV Concept recently displayed at the Montreal Auto Show. It is a striking SUV with a revolutionary powertrain. In addition to the petrol engine, it comprises three electric motors offering a range of 120 km. When the thermic engine kicks in, the total range can reach 1,200 km. A very impressive figure for an SUV!
An unmatchable 10-year warranty
Confident in its vehicles’ quality and reliability, Mitsubishi offers a 10-year/160,000 km powertrain limited warranty on most of its models. This unprecedented warranty is joined by a 5-year/100,000 km fully transferable new vehicle limited warranty. A 5-year/100,000 km accessory warranty and a 5-year/unlimited km roadside assistance are also added to the mix. Buying a Mitsubishi vehicle thus comes with maximum peace of mind.
