The 2023 Mitsubishi RVR is the smallest SUV in the Mitsubishi family of vehicles. However, this doesn’t stop it from offering some of the most reliable mechanical components in the industry, a trait it shares with its siblings. Having been part of the Mitsubishi lineup for several years now, the RVR has proven to be every bit as efficient as the automaker’s other vehicles.
In the case of the 2023 Mitsubishi RVR, most of the improvements have focused on esthetics. Since the previous model year, Mitsubishi has reworked the vehicle’s front end, adding chrome elements and making the headlights more imposing. The result highlights the RVR’s relationship with other Mitsubishi models, notably the Outlander.
The grille also exhibits some slight modifications, lending the sport utility vehicle a more distinctive, modern appearance.
Despite the fact that the 2023 Mitsubishi RVR is a subcompact, it offers a comfortable, spacious interior. In fact, it excels in this regard, outperforming other popular compact SUVs, including the Hyundai Kona and the Mazda CX-30.
The vehicle’s 2,670 mm wheelbase gives it the capacity to seat five passengers, affording them more legroom than rival models do. Even in terms of cargo volume, the little 2023 Mitsubishi RVR is surprising, offering up to 614 liters of space behind the seats.
This capacity increases dramatically when you fold the rear seats down. In fact, the GT version of the 2023 RVR can hold up to 1,382 liters of cargo on a virtually flat floorboard.
When it comes to comfort, the compact 2023 RVR distinguishes itself, offering heated seats that are easily adjustable, enabling the driver to find the best driving position quickly.
A central 8-inch screen houses the infotainment system, which is fully compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto by means of one of the available dashboard-mounted USB ports. If you’d like to enjoy your music at a new level of intensity, you can add a 710 W Rockford Fosgate sound system with a 10-inch subwoofer.
To make the cabin even more welcoming, certain versions of the RVR offer a panoramic sunroof. The glass makes the vehicle’s roof almost completely transparent, letting in an abundance of natural light.
Whether you prioritize fuel economy or power, the 2023 Mitsubishi RVR has an option for you. As in previous model years, you’ll be able to choose between two well-established powertrains.
The base model comes with a 2.0 L four-cylinder engine producing around 148 horsepower (and 145 pound-feet of torque). However, if you’d like a little more power, you can opt for the 2.4 L four-cylinder engine, which delivers 168 horsepower and 167 pound-feet of torque. The latter is the model we took for a test drive.
Both powertrains feature a continuously variable automatic transmission. This CVT transmits power to the wheels with enthusiasm. And with regard to the wheels, themselves, let’s not forget that nearly all models, with the exception of the ES and SE entry-level versions, feature all-wheel drive.
Mitsubishi’s proprietary all-wheel drive system, dubbed Super All Wheel Control, is one of the most advanced of its kind. It distributes engine power to the wheels with the most traction, thus enhancing the safety of all the vehicle’s occupants. In fact, this exceptionally rapid system has long been considered one of the safest.
To make every trip even safer, the automaker has equipped the 2023 Mitsubishi RVR with a number of different driver assist features. Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Automatic High Beam Headlights, all of which are available on the RVR, offer you peace of mind, joining the Rearview Camera System and Active Stability Control to make every trip as safe as possible.
When equipped with available all-wheel drive, leather upholstery and heated seats and steering wheel, the 2023 Mitsubishi RVR provides a surprising level of comfort for an SUV of its size. However, the fact that it’s one of the most dependable vehicles, backed by a 10-year warranty on the powertrain, makes it even more appealing.
The 2023 Mitsubishi RVR is a compact vehicle that will enable you to travel worry-free for many years to come. But don’t take our word for it. Come and take it for a free test drive at your Saint-Léonard Mitsubishi dealership.
